Nick talked me into joining FatSecret (FloridaMike). I figure it will be a good way to get back on track with my diet now that I am done with my Masters. No more excuses and all that. I am almost back up to 190 lbs and most of my clothes don’t fit anymore. I have been really lax about what food I am putting into my body and I need to get back to where I was after the hospital stay.

I haven’t really felt good since I got off the Prednisone, and I would like to actually wake up not tired for once. I suspect that just diet isn’t going to do it for me this time, my body isn’t shocked by lack of carbs anymore and can metabolize fat for fuel just fine. Getting the house ready for moving will act as some good low level exercise, but I suspect that I will need something more.

It’s hard to work out right now because Karen is having a horrible time with neck and back pain and doesn’t feel like doing anything after work. We used to egg each other on.

The final project and deliverables for my Leadership class was a little bit more involved than I thought. Didn’t get anything done except schoolwork. I did a couple of sets of push-ups Tuesday and am major sore today. I’ve been doing the hip and back stretches from AIS to get ready for some quality squats and I’m actually sore from that. So out of shape it’s just sad. I need to finish this stupid masters (July 30!) so I can fire my yard service and start doing that again. At least mowing the yard once a month kept me in a little bit of shape instead of just round.

Since I’ve started on my masters, I’ve been really lazy. It’s easy to make the excuse not to work out since I have to do homework. Whether or not I actually do some homework us up for debate, but I definitely don’t work out. So this is my new goal, to be able to do 100 push-ups without stopping. There is a nifty website that lays it out, a three day a week program: One Hundred Pushups

My initial test was 17 push-ups without stopping, better than I thought I could do. That puts me at rank 3 for my age group. So my first work out will look like:

Set 1 – 10
Set 2 – 12
Set 3 – 7
Set 4 – 7
Set 5 – 9+ (max)

A sixty second rest between sets should be enough to finish the workout, they say. We’ll see. I did my initial test today, so if I’m not sore tomorrow, I’ll do day 1.
